Zombie Hunter Movie Review

Zombie Hunter is set in a post-apocalyptic Zombie wasteland caused by the mysterious street drug “Natas”. We follow one man who has nothing left other than a beat up Camaro and a trunk full of guns and booze. He runs down Flesh Eaters, hunting for sport and redemption, while also running from his past. After crashing into a small group of survivors, who are running low on resources, he decides to lend a hand. But a surprise attack by the Flesh Eaters forces them on the run and puts the Hunter’s skills to the test.

From what little I know about this movie – it was a fan funded kickstarter effort. As any of you who have read my blog for some time know – I am a great believer that a decent Zombie film can be made on a budget. The idea / premise behind this film is a great one – a new designer drug pops up that is highly addictive and eventually turns people into crazed Zombies.

The majority of the effects are done digitally and can be fun in a B-movie kind of way, my biggest problem was with the main actor Aussie Martin Copping trying his best to channel his inner Mel Gibson in Mad Max 2. I think if you are not a genuine bad ass like say, Danny Trejo who also starts in this film , do not try to be one – it doesn’t work.

Zombie Hunter isn’t the worst Zombie film that I have seen but its far from the best either. If you go into this expecting a fun Z-movie, cheap effects and crappy acting you will enjoy this – if you go into this expecting to be sweating and nearly crapping your pants at any time then you will be thoroughly disappointed.
